It discribes the outlines of the history of the nations of India recovered from the ancient literatures and monuments and to sketch the salient features of the chief religious and social systems which flourished during the period between the date of the Rig-veda (about 1200 B.C.) and the first century A.D. This book also includes notes on the ancient geography and a short bibliography of standard works.
