This Gazetteer traces panoramic view of Bakarganj district of Bengal
providing elaborative account of its physical aspects, people and their life
besides public health, economic condition, agriculture, trade as well as
industries.
Natural calamities, means of communication, land revenue and general
administration, local self-government including educational states have also
been described.
About Author :
James Charles Jack (1877-1918), popularly known as J.C. Jack, ICS. He was Settlement Officer, for the district of Greater Faridpur; also District Magistrate, Bakarganj (present Barishal) during British period. He has also written the book The Economic Life of a Bengal District.
