There has always been a demand for knowledge concerning the insect enemies of shade-trees and methods of preventing their injuries. The author undertook investigations of these small be numerous enemies of shade trees for more definite information. This work is the outgrowth of those studies, which have been greatly augmented through the years by the constantly increasing demands of correspondents for information concerning such problem. Starting with the value of shade-trees and general methods of protection from insect attack, the author describes in details the material and apparatus for the control of trees and shrub insects as well as provides valuable suggestions for the treatment of weakened trees. The book gives full description, injuries caused, life history and control of insect enemies of about thirty common trees.
